Newport, Oregon (South Beach District)


Serving as a subconsultant to The Benkendorf Associates, our office provided design concepts, street furnishing recommendations and cost estimating for three urban renewal plans: a community gateway, a commercial street and a residential street.  The community gateway (sited on highway 101 at the historic bay bridge) incorporates architectural columns with signage, a bicyclist wayside, information kiosk, multi-modal paths, landscaping and an open air market with vehicle parking.  The commercial street (sited at 35th Street and Highway 101) incorporates parallel parking with bulb outs, raised crossings, monument signs, walks, and street plantings.  The residential street (sited at Brant and 29th Streets) incorporates "skinny" and "green street" design concepts, as well as pedestrian walks, crossings and ornamental lighting.
